Welcome to the Extraordinary Breathing website!

 

This site was made for kids to learn how breathing muscles work, some problems that happen with breathing, and ways that rehabilitation can help breathing. I always wondered how all of us seem to know how to get stronger. Our strength allows us to run, breathe, jump, and do all the things we like to do! Sometimes when people become very sick, all of their muscles become weak. This website talks about the breathing muscles, strength, and the jobs that help people become stronger.

 

You might learn about:

· Breathing functions (like hiccups!) and problems kids might have with breathing

· How rehab can help all muscles, even the breathing muscles get stronger

· Why it is interesting to be a physical therapist and a scientist

· The many places where scientists work

· Links to some fun science and health websites and games

 

 

Currently, I am a Doctoral Candidate at University of Florida, studying how muscle works and ways to make muscles stronger. I train people in the hospital to grow stronger leg and breathing muscles.
