Underworld

Producers and Perfomers

Underworld is an electronic music group made up of two men named Karl Hyde and Rick Smith. The pair from
England create their own music and also perform it live in front of thousands of people. I have much respect for them
because they don’t just play other people’s records. They make their own music live on stage amidst a great light show
and a wonderful vibe. They have created several albums since they started their music career in the late 80’s. They include:
Dubnobasswithmyheadman (2003), Second toughest in the infants (1997), Beaucoup fish (1999), Everything, Everything (2000),
A Hundred Days Off (2002), and their latest a compilation, Anthology 1992-2002 (2003). Underworld has a great site with info
on their music, tours, and other projects. Check it out.

I had the pleasure to attend on of their shows in 2002 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. New York was the closest
they came to Florida so I flew up to see them. The picture below was from that night.

These are the songs they played: 1. Mmmm Skyscraper I Love You 2. Dinosaur Adventure 3D 3. Two Months Off 4. Dirty Epic 5. Cowgirl 6. Mo-Move 7. Twist 8. King Of Snake 9. Jumbo 10. Push Upstairs 11. Born Slippy 12. Pearl's Girl 13. Dark Train 14. Moaner

What else to they do?

Besides music Karl Hyde and Rick Smith are part of a group of people that founded Tomato in 1991. Tomato produces
various kinds of media and with an emphasis on conversation. Tomato projects are intended to create conversations. Ideas
come from this conversation and these ideas are formed in any media as an appropriate response. Click here to see Tomato's
site. Or click here to buy one of their books.
