Introduction

        This website is created for ESL/EFL teachers who are preparing to teach Tourism English especially in the  Food/Cuisine topic.  The target students should be at the intermediate level.  The website provides interesting information related to food/cuisine tourism English as the collection of videos and websites about food, cuisine, food festivals, and culture of eating such as how to use chopsticks.  Based on this information, the website creates some teaching activities such as role-play, conversation practice, and 'WebQuests'.  Moreover, quizes, tests, and games are also provided for both evaluation and having fun.  The website also offers teachers a variety of useful links like the book of 'food tourism around the world'.

Teaching Tips: Show students a video of food/cuisine Tourism that your students are interested in. The students may choose the video by themselves depending on their interests or the teachers can choose for them to encourage the students to study in that appropriate topic. The videos will be useful for the students in providing the relative information and motivaing them to do the activities.  For example, after watching the video, the teacheres may ask the students to do listening activities  such as  writing the summary or speaking activities like sharing their own experiences about cultural differences.

Table manners

Table manners are the etiquette used when eating. This includes the appropriate use of utensils. Different cultures have different standards for table manners. Many table manners evolved out of practicality. For example, it is generally impolite to put elbows on tables since doing so creates a risk of tipping over bowls and cups. Within different families or groups, there may be less rigorous enforcement of some traditional table manners of their culture while still maintaining others. Teaching Acivities


Teaching Tips: After watching the video, the teacheres may ask the students to do more activities such as working on vocabulary, role-play, conversation practice, and lesson plan.  Most of them can do 'on-line', therefore, the Internet access is required!  If the information for the task has to be printed it our, it is identified. The teacheres may also ask the students to do tests or quizes on-line to evaluate themselves. The students may do it in class or do it as a homework.  Moreover, the students may play games to have fun and get more knowledge at the same time!

WebQuests

Teaching Tips: After watching the video, the teacheres may ask the students to do more activities such as working on a varieties of 'WebQuests': the WebQuest was developed by Bernie Dodge at San Diego State University. It is a framework for research and exploration on specific topics utilizing Websites as resources. The building blocks for a WebQuest include the introduction, task, process, resources, evaluation, and conclusion.
