I lived in Oklahoma until I was eight years old. It's where my dad is from, but my mom had family in the Pensacola area. So every summer my family would go to Navarre Beach for about a week. We stayed right on the beach, and since my sister and I were so young, it is where we learned to swim. Every day of our vacation we would go out to the beach to swim a while. I caught on fast, but my sister took her time. It seemed noone could tell her how, and it seemed doubtful she even wanted to learn. One day was different though. My dad was playing with Keesha(my sister) in the water, when she just took off swimming. My dad started cheering and soon we all joined in. After that day, Keesha never had a problem swimming and, in fact, became a little bolder in life(she had always been a shy person). It was as if the ability to swim gave her confidence not only in the water, but in life itself. Maybe it had nothing to do with swimming and everything to do with conquering her fears, but the change was there nonetheless.
