Analyzing static and time of day pricing versus dynamic pricing for managed lane operations of I-95 express Miami project

Analyzed the impact of frequency and volatility of toll changes on traffic flow for managed lane system. This research tries to investigate that whether or not the benefits from dynamic tolling justify the additional cost of its implementation.

Analyzing the effect of auxiliary lanes on freeway segment volume throughput

Developed adjustment equations as a function of number of mainline lanes, which gives the percentage increase in volume throughput due to connecting an on-ramp and an off-ramp with an auxiliary lane.

A robust approach to optimal pick-up locations of public transit for evacuation planning with demand uncertainty

Developing a robust model to determine optimal location of pick-up points for public transit in order to minimize the total number of buses required to transfer all evacuees under demand uncertainty during evacuation planning.

A robust approach to shelter location for evacuation planning with demand uncertainty

Developed a robust shelter location model for determining a set of optimal shelter locations from among potential alternatives and also determining the capacities of open shelter under demand uncertainty during evacuation planning.

Explanatory analysis of value of travel time for work trips

Empirically evaluated the reasonableness of a single measure of VOTT for home-based work trips across all modes and all travel distances. Explored the variability in the measure of VOTT for home to work trips across different modes, trip distances and income.

Estimating capacity of signalized intersection with a left-turn lane using a probabilistic approach

Developed probabilistic models to estimate the left-turn and through capacity at signalized intersection with a left-turn lane and to investigate the effect of left-turn bay length and the left-turn demand over the capacity.
