Travel.  I participated in a study program for six weeks in Rome, Italy, in the summer of 2001.  Additionally, I have traveled on my own in Germany, France, Greece, and northern Italy.  I speak un’ poco italiano(a little Italian) and have had cross-cultural experience both at home and abroad.

    Tutoring.  Along  with my studies in education, I have had several opportunities to work with directly with students.  I have helped middle school students with reading skills, volunteered in a multi-age elementary classroom (working with 1st--3rd graders), taught children's Sunday school class, and spent a semester as a "conversation partner" with a 46 year-old man from Venezuela.  Currently, I am working as a tutor with the America Reads program.

    Childcare.  I have cared for sisters and a brother of my own, several neighbor's children, and have been referred to neighbor's friends for childcare.  This semester I will be responsible for a 7 year-old child one night a week.

    Classics Teaching Assistantship.  Awarded for scholarship and continuation of studies in UF classics graduate school; supplemented with full tuition waiver and stipend.

    J. Deiss Scholarship.   Awarded to a classics student pursuing career in teaching Latin; funding for summer study abroad in Rome, Italy.

    Eta Sigma Phi Excellence in Classics Award.   Awarded for scholarship and involvement in classical honor society.

    International Center Study Abroad Scholarship.   Scholarship award to College of liberal arts and sciences students planning to study abroad.
