| Motorcycle
Maps is an exhibition of drawings that depict trails and roadways
well traveled by the artist. They are sensitive and simple line drawings
that incorporate elaborate keys and color coding to illustrate important
"forks in the road," textural landscape, and warnings, qualities
to enjoy, and other personal data relating directly to the experience
of motorcycle riding in North Florida and other locations. The Motorcycle
Maps are autobiographical and explore an important part of Roche’s
life; one that is full of both joy and pain. From winning major races
to a serious motorcycle accident, Roche has participated in this popular
sport with the same gusto as with his art. In the drawings, the two
components come together. |
