Mission Possible:  Inductive Lesson

List of Tasks and Due Dates







1.  Choose a topic.  It must be a concept, principle, generalization, or rule (not a skill or a strategy).  Review the power point slides on Inductive teaching if you need more guidance here.
 

2.  Choose your group roles.
 

3.  Have the commander submit a group contractDUE DATE: April 1st (should take 5 minutes to complete).  Worth 10% of the project grade.
 

4.  Background information:  Recon person needs to surf to find at least 3 quality websites with background information on your topic.  Send an email to your triad with links to these sites.  (approx. time commitment:  30-45 minutes)
 

5.  Defining Characteristics:  Intelligence person needs to visit the sites and come up with the 3 characteristics that define your concept.  Also define the superordinate, coordinate, and subordinate concepts that are linked to your concept.  (approx. time:  30-45 minutes)
 

6.  Choosing Examples:  Under the guidance of the intelligence person, all group members should now decide which three examples they will choose to teach the concept.  Remember that you want examples that will bring out each of the three characteristics identified earlier.  (approx. time:  20-30 minutes)
 

7.  Develop Questions:  Group members should talk about what open-ended and convergent questions to ask during the inductive lesson.  Remember that each question should clearly tie to a specific characteristic.
 

8.  Compile the concept analysis:  The commander should get a blank concept analysis form, fill it in, and print it out to bring to class.  DUE DATE:  Week of April 8th   This is worth 80% of the grade for this project, so be sure it is a quality product.  Follow the rubric provided on pages 314-315 of your Target Packet of Readings.
 

9.  Complete an assignment feedback form.  This is to be done after all other tasks are completed and makes up 10% of the final project grade.  Email completed form to your instructor or bring a copy to class. DUE DATE:  Week of April 8th.
